Recent petrochemical pollution incidents at ITC/Deer Park fire, Exxon fire, KMCO fire and the Bayport Channel ship/barge crash have released dangerous pollutants - benzene, xylene, butadiene, vinyl chloride and more - into our air and water. Red lights are flashing for Houston residents. Pollution events are routine, in fact happening on average every six weeks in the Houston region.  Toxic substances released into our water and the air our families breathe impact our health and can be life-threatening depending on the pollutants' concentration and the intensity of contact. A history of limited transparency and public engagement has numbed the public's understanding of actual health threats. Now, we're commited to shine the light on the facts.  Planned speakers include: Sierra Club Houston - Melanie Oldham, Air Quality Chair Galveston Bay Foundation - Bob Stokes, President Air Alliance Houston - Lucy Randell, Board Member Environmental Defense Fund - Katie Moore, Scientist District 129 State Representative Dennis Paul - invited Texas Commission on Environmental Quality/TCEQ - invited  It’s time the public, especially families with young and old members to learn more about egregious toxic releases and impacts to our health. We need to help stop the “accidents” by engaging the TCEQ and public officials in the state legislature to enforce laws and regulations. Remember the image of ITC’s massive black chemical plume and the dangerous stench that took our breath away in the Bay Area on May 10, and consider what this means to your family's health.  Attend the Pollution Here and Your Health Forum to learn more, ask questions and take action.
