      Opening Reception & Art Exhibit for Border in Crisis: Houston Responds

      Opening Reception and Art Exhibit/Silent Auction A traveling art exhibit created by Rev. Dr. Helen Boursier and titled "The Power of Hope - Refugee Art/Reflections" will be on display. Rev. Dr. Boursier and a dedicated group of volunteer chaplains worked with the mothers and children being held at the Karnes Family Detention Center in 2015-16 to create art as a way of exploring and expressing the trauma which they had suffered and were continuing to suffer while in detention. Mix and Mingle with the Guest Speakers for The Border in Crisis: Houston Responds (The forum is a separate event to be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd. There is a separate RSVP for that event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/border-in-crisis-houston-responds-tickets-70518098531). Silent Auction featuring Texas artists who have donated their work to support this cause. All proceeds  will go to support the efforts of Team Brownsville and Interfaith Welcome Coalition (IWC) of San Antonio. Tickets are free for this event.
