Vox Culture hosts 'Beer Summit' to launch Mental Health Initiative

Vox Culture will be opening the new year with a special event to introduce its focus on the topic of mental health in Houston. The advocacy organization will be hosting its third annual VOX Beer Summit at Eureka Heights Brewing Company the evening of Friday, February 15th from 6:00PM to 8:30PM. The event will introduce the 2019 theme, ‘Rise Above'.

The Vox Beer Summit will provide guests an opportunity to meet Vox Culture's creative and community partners for the year: Mental Health America of Greater Houston, Comcare, and the Houston Grand Opera. The groups will present information to the audience pertaining to their work, the current mental health challenges and stigmas Houstonians face, what more needs to be done to give proper support, and creative methods to raise awareness. Guests will also have a chance to network individually with the groups to inquire about their work, ask mental health related questions, and sign up for future volunteering opportunities. Towards the end of the presentations, guests will be welcome to ask questions, voice concerns, share experiences, and offer thoughts on finding solutions.

Eureka Heights will also make their drink selections available for guests wanting to purchase beer as well as non-alcoholic options. Food will be available for purchase via a food truck on-site.

The goal behind ‘Rise Above’ is to educate, raise awareness, fundraise, and develop creative social action projects that address a variety of mental health stigmas Houstonians face daily. This includes the development of creative programming with artists and advocates to encourage reshaping attitudes toward various mental health challenges.
